The regulation of the mining sector within E.U states is primarily the responsibility of member states themselves. However, the EU has adopted some legislation specific to mining including the environmental impact of mining (especially waste and groundwater), as well as occupational health and safety. The E.U has also enacted laws restrict the importation of certain ‘conflict’ mineral into the E.U.
